It might come as no surprise to you that some of our most in demand items are our delightful first baby and toddler cot beds! These are a forever favourite because great design and versatility means that they are perfect for taking your little one from birth to around 4 and a half years old. With so many beautiful ranges to choose from, it can be a difficult task for parents to home in on their absolute favourite and truly, we love them all too. But eventually we must all decide on our favourite baby cot bed or the little one would have nowhere to sleep! So, let’s reveal our top 4 best loved cot beds so far in 2022!

Cot Criteria

When choosing a cot bed, a few factors besides aesthetics are key. These include safety, quality and flexibility – you want a cot bed that will ideally get years of usage and look gorgeous year after year. This is both a kindness to the planet and a sound investment for your home.

Number One: The Walton Crib

An absolute favourite, this cot bed became a beloved classic from the day it was launched, and what’s not to love? Regal styling? Check? Modern lines? Check. Ever popular Scandinavian design reference. Check. This sweet cot bed looks great in all periods – whether a city pad or a country house, this cot will never look out of place. The attention to detail shows in the craftsmanship. A wild rose is carved above each leg and the contours are outlined with precious ‘pearls’. These accents speak to quality and timelessness. Ever importantly, the cot is made of choice cuts of solid birch and the wood comes from eco managed forests in Northern Europe. The mattress is adjustable to two heights and a brilliant feature is that with a conversion kit, the cot transforms into a small sofa. To complete your dream nursery, there are other complimentary pieces available in the Walton Collection, each piece as stunning as the much-loved Walton Crib.

Number Two: The Dragons Cot Bed

A cot that perfectly encapsulates the Dragon’s vision: hand painted artwork on the most elegant piece of furniture, which forms the basis of childhood décor dreams. Use Dragon’s world famous art or use your very own designs to make your dream piece.

Durability is the catchword for this cot – we like to say its lifespan is at least 5 babies as it is so solidly made! These cots are often passed down to family and friends once they are finished with it.

The cot is hand painted by Dragons top artists in Sussex. Why not have your child’s name painted on the side or aim for a super versatile unisex design if you will pass this cot down.

The Dragons cot sports an adjustable base which includes a high position for the newborn baby and drops down for toddlers for when they are at toddler stage. Best of all, the cot converts to a bed and can be used by children up to 4.5 years.

Number Three: The Regency Cot Bed

Surely one of the prettiest classic cots around, the Regency Cot bed is the one to go for when the adorable setting needs to be on an all time high. Designed in house by Dragons team of interior designers this piece of furniture pays homage to French styling. Depending on the effect you are aiming to achieve, the cot is available with or without your preferred artwork in a hand painted textured brush paint finish.

A quick visit to the website will show the available options which are available online, either in antique white without art work for a crisp and classic finish or with gracious ‘Falling Petal and Butterflies’ artwork, all hand painted by top artists in West Sussex.

As with all of Dragons cots, heights are adjustable to accommodate babies growing needs – a high height adjustment for newborns and lower for the precocious toddler. Best of all, change the sides and you end up with a pretty toddler bed which can last until your little one is 4.5 years old.

Number Four: The Nightingale Cot Bed

Joy Archer is a trained journalist who defected from her job in the City to become an interior designer. Now, many fabulous projects later she combines her writing skills with her love of all things interiors and babies in her role as PR for Dragons of Walton Street. Joy’s favourite Dragons piece is the huge friendly brown lion which she pats every morning for good luck.
